The Bake Shop is a favorite place to visit all year round at Peaceful Country lifestyle. This purple clapboard building has a look of a New England cottage. The Bake Shop opens it's doors the earliest of all shops at Peaceful Country Lifestyle. The Purple sided

door knob that has a hanging sign that signals closed or open for sweets. Hanging on the front door is a lavender wreath mixed with greens. The wreath changes with the seasons but always welcomes folks with a purple mix of fresh garlands. The Bake Shop has cakes, cookies, pies, breads, kosher baked items and so much more. Iva and John Kutzman just recently took over the Bake Shop last year when the lovely Molly had to up and leave town to travel afar. You see she loved to bake so much that she began to get savy with the internet and the next thing you know she had a bake show on TV and then recipe books and now she has landed herself a guy who swept her off to France. When Melanie was in Europe it was as if the two young ladies were crossing in the dark, both having expanded their worlds beyond our little Peaceful Country lifestyle. Melanie has since returned and there was a celebration over at the Tea Caddy.  The closing of the shop led to Iva and John taking over and both were as nervous as two kids in a heap of trouble. Iva was the gold winner of pie contests and bake offs for years. Little gatherings about town required that she bring one of her famous pies or cakes. With the Bake Shop vacant for a new owner, John

decided to give Iva a little nudge. On Valentines day last year he set out to surprise her with a note of purchase hidden in the candy he bought her from Candy Confessions. Well to make a long story short, now they are up and running with scents of baked goods filling the air about town. The town was pleased as punch because they no longer had to schedule events just to get Iva to bring her pies! The Bake Shop is a place where you open a door and a bell chimes to signal that you have arrived. A mix of sweets and brewing coffee entices you to sit awhile after a long day of shopping for an afternoon snack. Many a dinner party at Peaceful Country Lifestyle has finished with a special tart or cake from the Bake Shop. The most unusual think that Iva has done over the year is to create her mark on her own baked goods. She alwasy inserts a little flat edible message that says thanks for enjoying dessert. It has come to a point where I believe most folks just dig a little deeper and eat a little faster to find this hidden message. The message has changed a time or
two. Iva has become more creative as her confidence in the Bake Shop has held strong. Last week Erica Johnson had a dinner party for her husband's boss at work and you should have seen the delight on his face when he himself sliced the chocolate cake down to a mint green flat icing protected by cake paper. It read in red "Robert is the smartest man we Know." Well if that didn't bring about a laugh or two at the dinner table. Erica had to cover and plead that she had nothing to do with this message. The eye brow raised on Mr. Findley as he had been considering Robert for a raise this year. The Bake Shop has become not just a shop of sweets but a first stop when planning any event about town. Iva and John are clearly enjoying their new adventure and John has now something so sweet to do each day of his retirement.
