Candy Confessions

Candy Confessions is a very narrow stone front shop on Main street at Peaceful Country Lifestyle. The little shop of sweets is on the first floor of this tall stone building nestled tightly between the main street shops. Candy Confessions is a store filled with chocolates from our favorite candy makers. Michael St Clair is the proud owner of such a fine establishment. His mother and his grandmother taught him the art of candy making when he was just a tyke. Candy Confessions was actually named after him. To this day he loves to tell the story of how many times he was caught sneaking candy from the counter such that he was forced to confess over and over again. Michael took the art of making candy and opened Candy Confessions which introduces wonderful sweets from candy vendors. Michael still loves to make candy and of course indulge, but finds it just as satisfying to introduce visitors to candy makers across the world. The little

When the door opens you find Mr Michael St Clair himself behind the glass counters bearing a sense of pride. Candy Confessions is busy all year round as folks stop to visit Peaceful Country Lifestyle. It is pretty hard not to be drawn to the chocolate and caramel scents on Main Street. Michael is preparing for one of his busiest seasons with Valentines Day followed by St Patrick's Day and then into the spring rush with Easter and Mothers Day to come. Griffith who resided on Chestnut street during her childhood remembered Michaels mother and grandmother fondly. Candy Confessions was not their dream buy rather a happenstance of Michael's. Mrs Griffith arrived with her son, daughter and grandchildren for a local birthday celebration. She spoke highly of all the little shops here at Peaceful Country Lifestyle. She was most anxious to see this famous little Candy Confessions that came about from Michael's fond love of the sweets. The black door swung open with a perfume scent preceding this well groomed family. My were they a handsome bunch thought Michael. Mrs Griffith had in hand a list of Jelly beans, chocolate covered cherries, gourmet nuts, rich dark chocolate and the list just went on and on. Her smile was strong and bright as were her little grandchildren's faces. They eyed brightlysome of the more colorful selections of candies. Mrs Griffith proceeded to fill a basket from just inside the door of Candy Confessions. The basket had chocolate covered velvet draped in and over the light woven wooden basket. On the handle read Candy Confessions to Mary and Margo. Mrs Griffith looked amused as she began filling the basket. She glanced over at Michael and winked. Michael hesitated as he carefully packed the clusters of chocolate into a decorative box. There was something so familiar about Mrs Griffith even though he was certain to have never laid eyes on her before. The music

played in the background and people strolled in and out of Candy Confessions until finally Mrs Griffith revealed all. She looked up to Michael behind the counter and asked if the very old chocolate molds wrapped in black satin and tied with pink ribbon were anywhere in storage. Michael looked so surprised and bewildered. No one at Peaceful Country Lifestyle could have known. Those old chocolate molds were what Candy Confessions was originated back in the day. His mother Mary and her mother Margo talked fondly of the wonderful woman who started them on the greatest adventure of their life, making candy. He came to understand that now so many

years later this wonderful soul came back to Peaceful Country Lifestyle. She wanted to see just how dear those days of candy making had grown. Now Candy Confessions is managed by a jolly and somewhat rounded man who appreciates the beauty of sweet candies. Those women of his heart will remain with him every day he breaks the mold. And oh how sweet it was to have found the love of his life, Melinda. You should meet her and someday I am sure you will.
